The LazyScoop Review:

Last men Finish Last is a completely enjoyable read. The subtle humourous tone the writing seemed very witty to me. The book somehow manages to make us smile or laugh even at the most serious situations, though you also get the essence of serious situations along with it.

E.g In the first chapter, Nandu is going through a serious break up. But there’s also a cricket commentary going on of live match on the radio and tv. The fusion of narration and commentary was very funny to read.

The initial chapters where more of Nandu’s friendship with his three friend, their chemistry and sattu’s obsession with girls is explored. It reminded me a lot of Hollywood movies like American Pie, 21 and Over, etc. The chapters give you same comic tone, some non-veg one liners and dialogues. Though without going overboard.

The book is filled with funny situations- eg. When Nandu enters Tanishq’s house for the first time, and has a tea made by her. A simple incident, but the writers funny way of narrating it makes it very entertaining to read.

Characterization is also good, Nandu being a Nice guy and a womanizer later, his mental frame is well described.

Sattu’s character adds flavour to the plot. Keshav and Shardul’s characters aren’t explored much, they get lost somewhere in the story.

Tanishq’s character is also very impressive, she’s head strong and a fun loving girl. She’s possessive and requires constant attention.

Madiha’s character was loveable. A perfect friend, grumpy but very helpful.

The second half of the book becomes slightly more serious and you get more emotionally connected to the story. The climax is fantastic, couldn’t have asked for a more satisfying end to this romantic comedy.

What I didn’t like?

I wanted to know more about Nandu’s equation with Tanishq’s father. I felt it was left without a proper conclusion.

The LazyScoop Verdict:

Overall, Nice Men Finish Last by Pravesh Vir Siddhu is an entertaining read with good dose of humour, emotions and romance. If adopted into a movie script, It has the potential to be a blockbuster Bollywood movie.
